The band was founded by Richard Morales in Markham, Ontario. They had been performing mostly in private events, Latin community parties and corporate events in Toronto and Markham since 2006.
In the summer of 2012 they started their festival gigs as “Los Moralitos” at the Markham Village Music Festival.
Los Moralitos started their movement into the Festival music scene by playing a fusion of traditional Latin covers from tropical bands of the 80s with electric sounds of Santana’s sound.
The band developed its own style and repertoire using these modern electric guitar sounds with the danceable nature of traditional elements of their Latin music. The band plays danceable rhythms like salsa, cuban son and cumbia without the use of horns (trumpets, trombones) or heavy percussion artillery of the typical large Latin bands we are familiar with.
The result is a funky electric tropical sound that engages crows to dance and have a good time in what we can call a unique Latin Canadian style.
